Welcome to the Savannah Concert Association's 2007-2008 season. Eight events will be heard Saturday evenings at 8:00 pm in either the elegant Lucas Theatre or in its around-the-corner companion, the handsome Trustees Theater. Both are located in Savannah's Historic District and are within easy walking distance of hotels, restaurants, and parking facilities. The Savannah Concert Association's goal is
to bring the best to Savannah: top-rated singers and
virtuosos performing masterworks in an attractive venue.

Gary Graffman - Pianist
at the Wesley Monumental Church in Calhoun Square
Savannah, Georgia
Renowned pianist Gary Graffman will be performing works from his upcoming concert at Ravinia in Chicago this summer. A major figure in the music world since winning the prestigious Levintritt Award in 1949, Mr. Graffman has played the most demanding works in piano literature. After an injury in 1979, his performances now are from a brilliant repertoire of concertos written for the left hand alone.

Concert #1 - September 29, 2007
Marina Lomazov - Pianist
at the Lucas Theatre

Concert #2 - November 17, 2007
Charles Wadsworth & Friends
at the Trustees Theater
Famed as a gifted pianist, a convivial host
and a discriminating impresario, Wadsworth
has been applauded and honored throughout
the world. His "friends" are distinguished
musicians. In this concert he will be
accompanied by the well-known cellist
Edward Arron and the Chiara Quartet. The program
includes work by Haydn, Schubert, and Osvaldo.

Concert #3 - December 1, 2007
Charles Wadsworth & Friends
at the Lucas Theatre
Encore Charles!
Appearing with a trio of world famous musicians: Jeremy Denk, piano,
Soovin Kim, violin, and Edward Arron, cello.
Wadsworth is a great local favorite, performing
here 12 times in the past three
years. Denk is a winner of the coveted Avery
Fisher Career Grant, and Kim has been
acclaimed worldwide for his exciting style. The program
features works by Bach, Ives, Liszt and Dvorak.

Concert #4 - January 12, 2008
Hong Xu - Pianist
at the Lucas Theatre
The career of 24 year old Hong Xu took a sharp upward turn this
year. Not only was his Carnegie Hall debut a huge success, but
eight days later he performed the Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3
at Juilliard under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenazy. The New
York Times critic wrote, "Mr. Xu's playing was lithe and elegant.
He subtly shaped lines without exaggeration, and his fast passagework
was precise and buoyant. He was revealed as an insightful
musician of limitless potential."

Concert #5 - February 2, 2008
Charles Wadsworth & Friends
at the Trustees Theater
With Wendy Chen, piano, Chee-Yun,
violin & Edward Arron, cello. All
of these "friends" have appeared
in Savannah, and the city eagerly
welcomes them back. Their separate
international careers are
shining with success, and when they play together, the
result is musical magic. Works by Stravinsky, Villa-Lobos, Schoenfield
and Mendelssohn are on the program.

Concert #6 - February 23, 2008
Dmitri Levkovich - Pianist
at the Lucas Theatre
Described as one of the most promising
talents of today, Levkovich made his New
York debut in the fall of 2006 at the Weill
Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall. In 2007 he
won top honors as a Chopin interpreter at
the International Cleveland Competition.
This will be his third appearance in
Savannah.

Concert #7 - April 12, 2008
Charles Wadsworth & Friends
at the Lucas Theatre
Appearing with Edward Arron, cellist and The Miró Quartet.
More
than anyone else, Wadsworth has
shown that the chamber music repertory
is a wealth of pleasure. Appearing
in all four of Wadsworth concerts in
2007-2008, Arron has been appointed
Associate Artistic Director of these events.

Concert #8 - April 26, 2008
Ran Dank, pianist
at the Trustees Theater
First Prize Winner of the 2008 Hilton Head
International Piano Competition
to play in Savannah Solo and with local Quartet. Ran Dank prevailed in the competition
over nearly 100 entrants from around the world.
At age 25, he has won other
high honors in his native Israel,
London, Belgium and the United States including first prize in the
Gina Bachauer Competition. Joining Ran Dank in the "Trout" Quintet will be Terry Moore, violin; Gretchen
Frazier, viola; Sarah Schenkman, cello; and Stephen Rickett, bass.
