Charles Wadsworth has become the mainstay in Savannah’s musical life. His wit, charm and artistry have made him a favorite in hundreds of venues, and his “friends” are world famous musicians. More than anyone else, Wadsworth has demonstrated that the chamber music repertory is a wealth of pleasure.

The Miró Quartet was formed in 1995, and quickly won three important competitions in the United States. In 1998 it took first prize in the Banff International String Quartet Competition, and it won the Naumberg Chamber Music Award in 2000. It is the first ensemble to be awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant. The Miró Quartet is named for Joan Miró, the famed Spanish surrealist artist of the 20th century.

Melvin Chen appeared in Savannah with Charles Wadsworth on February 18, 2006. He has received wide acclaim for performances in major venues throughout the United States and abroad. He holds a doctorate in chemistry from Harvard as well as a double master’s degrees from Juilliard in piano and violin.
